Our approach

We at LIMA K9 Dog training work to provide the best possible training experience for you and your dog no matter where you are at. LIMA is our motto and it stands for least invasive minimally aversive. This means that we will always start with the easiest tool for you and your dog and only escalate if deemed necessary and we believe it will help your dog, not just be easier to do. Our methods utilize positive training while balancing natural consequences for the best possible outcomes in training. Along with that, we will always strive to meet you where you are at in terms of tools and methods of training in order to get you and your dog where you would like to be.

What experience do we have?

We at LIMA have experience working with dogs of different breeds with different issues ranging from resource guarding, aggression, or just issues with basic obedience. We are not limited by breed, age, or issue. We believe that all dogs, even old ones, can learn new tricks.

Our focus on strengthening the bond between dog and human.

We believe that training is best done when there is a strong bond and even stronger line of communication between dog and person. How do we do this? We accomplish this by looking at the genetics, asking questions like ‘what was this breed bred to do?’, ‘what behaviors does it naturally exhibit?’, and ‘how can we safely allow this dog to express those traits in a way that builds the bond between dog and owner?’. By doing this, we meet the dogs needs, we give them the things that they want so that we are able to get the things that we want.
